TUITION, MEDICAL & BEHAVIOUR SUPPORT SERVICE
The appointment is to the Tuition, Medical & Behaviour Support Service (Pupil Referral Unit) which provides education, based at six Education Centres, for pupils who, by reason of illness, exclusion or otherwise, are being educated out of school. The Service caters for pupils in KS1 to KS4 who have a wide range of needs and were rated 'Good' by Ofsted in our Inspection in October 2023. It also provides teaching support in two hospitals, individual teaching, and shared placement provision for pupils in mainstream schools. Children are referred via a multi-agency panel. The main work of the Service is to include and reintegrate into the child's original or another mainstream school where possible or work towards a suitable long-term placement.
We are seeking a compassionate and dependable Minibus Assistant to support the safe and reliable transport of pupils at our Oswestry Education Centre. This role involves working closely with the driver to ensure the comfort, safety, and well-being of children and young people during their journeys to and from the education centre, events, and activities.
The pupils you will be supporting may have learning difficulties, additional needs, or Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) challenges, so a calm, patient, and reassuring presence is essential. You will assist with boarding and exiting the vehicle, help maintain a positive and secure atmosphere, and ensure pupils are seated safely with their belongings stowed appropriately.
You will also be responsible for communicating effectively with children, parents/carers, Service staff, and the driver, and for following all safeguarding procedures diligently. A willingness to undertake safeguarding training, and any other relevant training is required.
If you are friendly, supportive, and committed to making a positive difference in the lives of children and young people, we encourage you to apply.
TMBSS is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act and as such, all applicants who are appointed to this post will be subject to an Enhanced Disclosure and appropriate pre-employment checks before the appointment is confirmed.
