Hays Senior Finance is proud to partner with an established SME to appoint a Finance Manager on a permanent basis. The organisation is ideally situated andmutable from Wakefield, Batley, Dewsbury, Mirfield and surrounding areas.
This is an exciting opportunity for a qualified finance professional to take ownership of the finance function, particularly management accounting and month-end processes. You'll also influence strategic decision‑making, and work closely with operational teams to drive performance and profitability. As a key member of the finance team, you’llbine hands‑on financial management with proactive business partnering, turning data into insight and helping the organisation scale with confidence.
Key Responsibilities
1. Financial Leadership & Reporting
2. Lead preparation of monthly management accounts, P&L, balance sheet and cash flow
3. Provide insightful analysis,mentary, and rmendations to support decision‑making
4. Oversee budgeting, forecasting and long‑term financial planning
5. Maintain robust financial controls and audit‑ready documentation
Business Partnering
6. Support operational leaders with meaningful financial insight
7. Conduct cost analysis, pricing reviews, margin analysis and scenario modelling
8. Challenge assumptions and drive accountability for financial oues
9. Collaborate with Sales, Manufacturing, Operations and Supply Chain teams
Process & Systems Improvement
10. Strengthen processes, controls and reporting efficiency
11. Lead or support upgrades to ERP, finance systems or reporting tools
12. Develop dashboards, KPIs and performance‑tracking metrics
Operational Finance
13. Manage cash flow, working capital and banking relationships
14. Oversee payroll, supplier payments and credit control
15. Ensurepliance with all statutory and HMRC requirements
16. Co‑ordinate with year‑end accountants and auditors
About You
17. You will be a qualified finance professional, with post-qualification experience leading month-end processes, and experience in a business partnering function.
18. Strong SME experience, in fast-pacedmercial environments, such as manufacturing, engineering, distribution & logistics, or product‑based environments.
19. UK finance experience is essential. You will also be fluent in written and verbal English, and a confidentmunicator who can simplify financial information for non-finance individuals.
20. Hands‑on, proactive andmercially engaged
21. Able to balance strategic thinking with operational delivery
