Applications are invited for the position of a Locum Consultant Neonatologist in the Neonatal Unit, Aberdeen Maternity Hospital, NHS Grampian. The post duration is 1 year.
The Neonatal Unit, Aberdeen Maternity Hospital (AMH) and the Royal Aberdeen Children's Hospital (RACH) provide the principal hospital services for newborns and children in the Grampian Region and the Orkney and Shetland Islands (population approx 590,000).
The Neonatal Unit is located within the Maternity Hospital on the main Hospital site at Foresterhill, alongside Aberdeen Royal Infirmary, the Royal Aberdeen Children's Hospital, and the University of Aberdeen Medical School. Plans are underway for the new Baird Family Hospital, which will be operational by 2025 for Women's Services and Neonatal Care in Aberdeen and the North of Scotland Region.
This is an exciting opportunity to join a motivated team in the Neonatal Unit in Aberdeen. We welcome your experience to contribute to services including ECHO, POCUS, Therapeutic Hypothermia, NO, and HFO ventilation.
The unit is the Northern hub within the ScotStar transport service, providing regular cover for Shetland, Orkney, and Inverness by ambulance, fixed wing, and helicopter.
We seek someone who can introduce innovative ideas to support our ongoing improvements and contribute to the daily operations of this busy unit. There are opportunities in Clinical Services, Teaching, Audit, and Research within a team comprising Consultants, Specialty Doctors, Middle and Junior Grade Medical Staff, ANNPs, and Nursing and Midwifery teams.
Full-time posts are currently 10 programmed activities per week. Flexible arrangements, such as job sharing, will be considered.
