Road Safety Coordinator – Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service

Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS) is seeking a dynamic and motivated Road Safety Coordinator to support the delivery of the Vision Zero Strategy, with a strong focus on young driver education. This is an exciting opportunity to lead on a new road safety programme that aims to eliminate all road deaths and serious injuries.
As a key member of the Safer Roads Greater Manchester Partnership, GMFRS plays a leading role in delivering targeted education to young people. The successful candidate will coordinate and deliver road safety interventions across educational establishments and respond to Killed or Seriously Injured (KSI) incidents. You will also lead on planning and executing proactive “days of action” to improve road safety outcomes across the region.
Responsibilities
* Experience of creating outturn reports in preparation for delivery to a partnership board, for scrutiny against KPIs.
* Experience of working to provide a service to members of the community and measuring impact through performance reporting.
* Experience of managing a high performing team and providing support / mentoring to other team members.
* Experience of managing performance and addressing any performance issues including welfare support.
* Have a detailed understanding of health and safety, equality and diversity and safeguarding legislation.
* Experience of coaching, training or teaching (not necessarily as a full-time occupation).
* Experience in working in partnership with other private or public sector agencies to achieve a common goal.
* Experience of managing a budget and ensuring value for money.
* Experience in change management and implementing a change to improve performance.
Desirable
* Have an awareness of road safety and the Vision Zero ambition.
* Have an awareness of road safety educational material, NFCC toolkit etc.
* Have an awareness of road safety and the key messages for delivery against key demographics and target audiences.
About You
We’re looking for someone who is:
* Experienced in partnership working, particularly within the education or public safety sectors.
* Knowledgeable about the Vision Zero Strategy and the Safe System approach to road safety.
* Skilled in project coordination and confident in managing small teams.
* A strong communicator, capable of engaging with young people and stakeholders at all levels.
* Proactive, organised, and passionate about reducing harm on our roads.
