We are committed to supporting our dedicated staff, so only current employees of the following organisations can apply:

NHS Cornwall and Isles of Scilly Integrated Care Board

If you do not currently work for one of these NHS organisations, your application will not be considered at this time.

We are looking for a creative, organised and motivated person to help us deliver our ambitious engagement and communication strategies both for NHS Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly ICB, and to work with our partner communication and engagement teams.

This role is hands‑on, creative and busy with time spent working face to face with the ICB team and out and about in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly. You will help the wider team to deliver inclusive engagement and communications that uses a range of exciting, interesting and innovative engagement methods, communication content and tactics to reach as many people as possible.

This includes alternative and different engagement methods for younger people, people with learning disabilities and autistic people to creating digital and social content that ‘stops the stroll’ and entices people to take part.

Main duties of the job

The role will see you:

Support the co‑ordination of relevant engagement and communications across Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly, understanding the population, forming relationships with stakeholders and finding out the local communications channels/tactics available for you to use to deliver comms and engagement.

Produce digital communications including films for use in our Board, AGM, staff briefings, system bulletins and engagement events to give patient stories, explain our commissioning intentions and strategies and communicate key messages to colleagues and wider system partners. You will also produce engaging social media shorts and static assets for use within our health communications campaigns.

Engagement and communications

As part of a wider engagement and communications strategy, your role will include the planning, booking and co‑ordinating of relevant engagement activity throughout the year.

You will support the wider team on a variety of communications and engagement projects as needed, including during the NHS response to major incidents or system pressures.

You will also support wider ICB colleagues with their requests for communications and engagement team support—capturing requests following our communications and engagement process and working with the Director of engagement and the wider team to prioritise, deliver or delegate communications and engagement.

At events or through engagement plans, you will need to guide people and brief volunteers/staff through engagement activities, including completing surveys, taking part in interactive activities so we can listen and capture the views and experiences using a variety of engagement tools and functions (online survey platforms promoted to our digital panel, keeping our expert reference groups informed, to promoting surveys/events through our social media platforms and local Facebook groups).

After events and once engagement is complete you will also collate/oversee feedback using a variety of tools and co‑ordinate engagement feedback into timely and useful reports that ensure the voices of our patients and of all Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly residents can be presented to decision makers.

You will also oversee the design of surveys, engagement delivery, communication tactics and related communication materials aligned to the strategic requirements set out in your agreed engagement and communication plan.

At events/activities, you will take photos and film to document activity and create content to share across the NHS digital platforms, and with partners. You will need to know or be willing to learn skills to enable you to film, edit and upload content on our various channels. You will also need to know or be willing to learn design skills, including using Canva to create social media posts, graphics and printed communications materials.

To promote our engagement events, and to show our inclusive engagement, you will need to upload content on our social media platforms, create e‑bulletins, keep webpages updated and access/use relevant internal and external communications channels.

You will contribute and develop ideas that support the team with their engagement programme and supporting communications activities that align to the team’s engagement and communication strategy.

Team support:

Acknowledging and logging media enquiries, and supporting the team, if required, to provide responses.

Generating ideas to inform and deliver the team's work.

Creating social, audio and digital content, as required.

Helping to write media releases, as required.

Project management, collating/gathering information and undertaking enquiries.

A supportive team member, contributing to the delivery of programmes, projects etc.

The duties of this post are wide‑ranging and will require the postholder to be flexible in adapting to changing circumstances.
