Clinical Team Lead - Shropshire Telford and Wrekin
Further to recent growth and development within our Clinical Leadership Team, an exciting opportunity has arisen for a Clinical Team Lead to join us on a full‑time, permanent basis. This role is suitable for an experienced practising clinical practitioner wishing to take the next step in their career.
About the role
Reporting to the Head of Clinical Workforce, you will work in partnership with the Operational and Clinical Management Teams to provide seamless leadership, continuity of service, effective communication and support service‑improvement projects. The post holder will ensure high standards of care and provide clinical and non‑clinical support to the Prescribing Team comprising a diverse range of healthcare professionals.
Clinical leadership of staff will also take place as required both in‑ and out‑of‑hours to enable supervision and support to staff within the clinical setting. The post holder will be expected to work a variety of hours clinically during office hours and during the out‑of‑hours period, including weekends, weekday evenings and bank holidays. This enables the post holder to have a working knowledge of all clinical and non‑clinical scenarios to manage and develop the Prescribing Team expertly and effectively.
The post holder will also assist with the operational appointment, induction, and training of all new Clinicians to ensure that every new member of staff receives a formal induction in the systems and processes adopted by HealthHero before working independently within our Urgent Care service.
Responsibilities
* Work as a prescribing clinical expert and role model for delivery of care at the highest level, continuously developing personally.
* Collaborate closely with the Clinical Leadership Team and take responsibility for managing the Prescribing Team.
* Support Clinical Leadership colleagues to ensure effective line management of the team.
* Assist in recruitment and retention of staff.
* Assist in managing staff absence in accordance with policy.
* Conduct 1:1 meetings and appraisals with team members in line with the appraisal policy.
* Identify and plan development opportunities within the role.
* Monitor team performance informally and formally through personal development plans and key performance indicators.
* Support Clinical Governance processes via regular audit of clinical work against criteria to ensure documentation and standards of good practice.
Qualifications & Experience
* Registered nurse, paramedic, or other allied health professional with a non‑medical prescribing qualification.
* Extensive experience within a Primary/Urgent Care setting.
* Ability to work autonomously both in‑hours and out‑of‑hours.
* MSc in Advanced Practice (preferred).
* Training and experience of physical assessment and clinical reasoning with patients of all ages, including paediatrics.
* Wide knowledge base and competency in clinical practice.
* Understanding of emergency care pathways.
* Knowledge of primary health care issues affecting a diverse local population.
* Completion of a clinical reasoning module (e.g., PADRIP or equivalent).
