Job Title: Assistant Academic Programme Leader (University Programmes)

Salary: £28,000 - £35,000 per year

Purpose of Post:
The Assistant Academic Programme Leader will support the Academic Manager in managing and coordinating the delivery of our university collaborative partner programmes. The post-holder will ensure the academic quality, integrity, and regulatory compliance of the programmes in alignment with our Academic Regulations and College policies.
In addition, the post-holder will undertake a teaching commitment within their subject area, contributing to the delivery of lectures, seminars, tutorials, and assessment activities as required. The role will support enhancing the student learning experience through high-quality teaching, academic guidance, and engagement with students across the programme.
Key Accountability and Responsibilities:
Academic Operations & Programme Management:
* Coordinate programme delivery, timetabling, teaching resources and assessment cycles in line with university regulations and our procedures.
* Support management of academic staff teams and ensure timely completion of programme processes.
* Ensure accurate preparation of assessment briefs, internal verification, and grade processing.
* Preparing the peer and teacher observations schedule.
* Assisting the Head of Programme Delivery and the Academic Manager with document preparation for University Visits.
* Maintaining and tracking all committees' action plans and following up on outstanding action points.
* Monitor the implementation of Individual Learning Plans and the successful progression of students as a direct outcome.
Teaching and Learning:
* Deliver lectures and tutorials within the relevant subject area.
* Prepare teaching materials and learning resources aligned with module specifications.
* Design and mark assessments in accordance with academic regulations and marking criteria.
* Provide timely, constructive feedback to students.
* Support students' academic development through tutorials, academic guidance, and pastoral support.
* Contribute to curriculum enhancement and innovative teaching practices.
Attendance Monitoring:
* Ensure accurate daily recording of student attendance using approved departmental systems and procedures.
* Track attendance, punctuality, reasons for absence and mitigations; escalate concerns promptly.
* Produce monthly attendance reports, analyse trends, and support engagement interventions.
* Maintain 100% accuracy in attendance data entry
Assessment & Academic Records:
* Allocate marking tasks, monitor deadlines, and ensure accuracy of recorded grades.
* Maintain compliant academic records for university Boards and audits.
* Audit VLE content and ensure staff adherence to programme requirements.
* Reviewing and auditing the Course Handbook.
Academic Governance & Quality Assurance:
* Organise academic committees, prepare agendas, papers, and minutes.
* Track committee actions and ensure compliance with our quality processes.
* Assist with documentation for partnership reviews and monitoring.
Student Experience & Support:
* Support induction, communication, and academic support services.
* Respond to student academic enquiries and coordinate support signposting.
* Monitor progression data and escalate risks.
* Ensure that Academic Support for students is arranged appropriately and that any Individual Learning Plans are followed through to enable maximum success.
Person Specification:
Qualifications:
* Master's degree in a relevant subject area.
* Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA) or willingness to obtain it.
Experience:
* Experience of teaching in Higher Education.
* Experience supporting programme delivery or academic coordination.
* Familiarity with UK Higher Education quality assurance processes.
Skills and Competencies:
* Strong organisational and administrative skills.
* Effective communication and teamwork abilities.
* Ability to support students' academic development and learning experience.
* Commitment to maintaining academic standards and regulatory compliance.
Desirable:
* Experience working with collaborative partner programmes.
* Knowledge of university academic regulations.
