About The Role
As an Operations Team Leader, you’ll lead a team responsible for the safe and efficient movement of vehicles across the yard. You will support daily operations across the site’s core functions - Inbound, Movements and Outbound - whilst ensuring service level agreements and operational standards are consistently met.
This role includes both outdoor operational work and office-based tasks such as resource planning and people management activities.
The position requires someone who is comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions and who can actively move around site, safely drive vehicles, and support the team where needed.
What You’ll Be Doing
* Lead, support, and motivate a team of Operations Assistants and Coordinators.
* Manage all people-related activities including absence management, performance management, investigations, and disciplinary processes.
* Plan resources effectively to ensure workloads are prioritised and service level agreements are achieved.
* Promote high levels of team engagement and a positive working culture.
* Ensure safe and efficient movement of vehicles across the yard.
* Maintain accurate vehicle records across all relevant systems.
* Ensure loose items are stored correctly and safely.
* Complete scheduled MVS Self-Assessment checks and address or escalate any compliance issues.
* Follow all site health and safety procedures and promote safe working practices.
* Drive vehicles safely and professionally in line with site rules and HSE requirements.
* Maintain a calm and professional approach when dealing with colleagues and customers.
* Support with additional operational tasks when required to ensure smooth yard operations.
What We’re Looking For
* Strong people management and leadership skills.
* Previous team leadership or supervisory experience is desirable.
* Excellent communication skills with the ability to give clear instructions and build strong working relationships.
* Strong time management and organisational skills.
* Ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines in a busy operational environment.
* Comfortable working under pressure while maintaining attention to detail.
* Confident using handheld or tablet-based technology.
* A full driving licence and confidence driving a range of vehicles.
