A vacancy has arisen for a full-time Medical Secretary within the Clinical Genetics Department based at the Western General Hospital. The SE Scotland Genetics Service provides a clinical genetic service, genetic counselling and laboratory services to Lothian and the South East of Scotland.
This post will primarily involve provision of a comprehensive medical secretarial and administrative support to clinicians and other members of the multi professional team contributing to the efficient day to day running of the service. The post is varied, however please be aware that considerable audio typing is involved, and, in addition to undertaking a wide range of administrative duties, using different IT systems, the post includes attendance at committee meetings and taking formal minutes and requires excellent IT skills.
As you will be required to deal with a wide range of people a polite and courteous manner is required as well as a methodical organised approach to work. The post also involves some patient contact and working as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
You will be an enthusiastic team player, well organised, self-motivated and an excellent communicator.
