About the Role
As an Early Intervention Support Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting children with emerging social, emotional, or learning difficulties. Working closely with the SENCo, class teachers, and external specialists, you will help implement early support plans designed to boost engagement and progress. Your work will focus on building children’s confidence, emotional wellbeing, and communication skills, helping to set strong foundations for their future learning. This position is ideal for someone who is passionate about early years development, SEN support, or child psychology.
Responsibilities
* Provide 1:1 or small group support to pupils identified for early intervention.
* Assist in delivering targeted programmes to develop speech, language, literacy, and numeracy skills.
* Support children in developing emotional regulation and positive behaviour strategies.
* Work with teachers and SEN staff to track pupil progress and adapt support as needed.
* Encourage engagement and participation in class and during playtime activities.
* Provide personal care support where necessary, ensuring dignity and respect.
* Promote inclusion and contribute to a positive, encouraging classroom atmosphere.
Qualifications
* Experience supporting children with SEN, behavioural, or developmental needs.
* Knowledge of early intervention strategies, child development, or behaviour support is highly desirable.
* A caring, patient, and proactive approach to supporting young learners.
* Strong communication and teamwork skills.
* Must have the right to work in the UK and an Enhanced DBS certificate (or be willing to apply for one).
