Some key information
* This is a hybrid role, part time, three days a week, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday for a total of 23.75 hours a week.
* There is a need to work in the office regularly and attend monthly team meetings, County Hall, Taunton is the office location.
* The role offers the successful candidate to opportunity to work in a procurement team with commercial and contract management requirements across multiple market sectors.
* 30 days’ annual leave (pro rata).
* The position is offered on a permanent basis.
What will I be doing?
We’re working to improve the lives of people in Somerset – and you’ll be a key part of that. Your day-to-day work will involve:
* Support to contract managers across the Council through commercial and contract management advice.
* Engagement with suppliers including, contract management meetings, performance assessments, negotiation and dispute resolution.
* Prepare commercial and contract management reports, input to legal reports and audit reviews.
* Maintain the contract register and procurement systems for allocated contracts to ensure supplier records remain accurate.
What kind of experience or qualifications do I need?
We offer ongoing support, training and guidance to help you be the best you can be. But it will really help if you:
* Have experience in a similar role working in a commercial environment placing or managing contracts.
* Can build relationships with professional officers, senior managers, elected members and suppliers to enable the management of complex contract and commercial matters.
* Have a good understanding of key commercial terms, specifications and pricing schedules and be able to interpret and apply these to a supplier’s delivery of a contract.
* Have the Government Commercial College foundation level contract management qualification or similar procurement, legal, audit or contract management qualification.

The salary for this role is £23,187 to £25,981 per annum.
