SEN Teaching Assistant - SEN School (Morecambe/ Lancaster)
Full-Time | Monday-Friday | 08:45-15:30 - Start Date: Monday 23rd February 2026
Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of young people with Special Educational Needs? Veritas Education are working closely with a specialist SEN school who are seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to support a secondary‑aged class with a range of additional needs.
About the Role
You will be supporting students aged 11-16 with needs such as Autism (ASC), Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD), Speech & Language needs, and Social, Emotional & Mental Health (SEMH) challenges. Your role will include:
Providing 1:1 and small‑group support
Assisting the class teacher with planning and delivering engaging, differentiated activities
Helping pupils regulate emotions and develop positive social skills
Using de‑escalation strategies and behaviour support techniques
Supporting personal care where required
Creating a safe, nurturing and inclusive environment for all learners
What We're Looking For
A minimum of a Level 2 TA qualification (or above) is desired but not essential
Experience working with SEN pupils (school, care or youth work backgrounds welcome)
A calm, patient and empathetic approach
Strong behaviour management or a willingness to learn
A genuine commitment to helping young people thrive
The ability to build trusting, supportive relationships with studentsHours & Contract
08:45-15:30, Monday to Friday
Term‑time only
