The Role
Our client is a dynamic Further Education college serving a diverse community of learners, including adult ESOL students, international students, refugees, migrants, and 16‑18 provision. They are committed to high‑quality teaching, inclusive learning environments, and helping students transform their lives through English language development and integration.
Responsibilities
* Design, deliver and assess ESOL programmes, both spoken and written English, adapting to the varied needs of our learners
* Use inclusive, innovative teaching methods and blended learning to engage and support students
* Monitor learner progress, provide constructive feedback and support individual development
* Contribute to curriculum design, quality assurance and continuous improvement initiatives
* Maintain accurate and timely records (attendance, assessments, progression)
* Collaborate with support services (e.g. pastoral, welfare, careers) and external partners to support learner success
* Foster a safe, motivating, and culturally sensitive learning environment
Qualifications
* A recognised Level 5 qualification in ESOL or equivalent subject specialist qualification
* A recognised teaching qualification (PGCE, CertEd, Level 5 Diploma) or willingness to achieve one
* Substantial experience teaching ESOL at various levels, in an FE or similar environment
* Experience of using a variety of assessment methods and adapting learning to learner needs
* Strong communication (verbal & written) skills, and competence with digital tools and e‑learning platforms
* Cultural sensitivity, patience, empathy, and a commitment to equality, diversity & inclusion
* Ability to work well both independently and as part of a team
