Job Title:Occupational Therapist (Schools)
Location: Darwen, Leyland, Preston (Lancashire)
Salary: £33,612 to £40,289 pro rata (£28,874 £34,610 actual) depending on experience and qualifications
Hours: 40 hours per week, Term Time Only
Overview
We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Occupational Therapist to join a growing therapy team across a group of specialist SEN schools in the North West.
These schools provide flexible day placements for children and young people aged 519 with communication needs, specific learning difficulties, autism, sensory needs, and associated barriers to learning.
This is a newly created role designed to strengthen and embed the therapy provision across the schools, offering an exciting opportunity to shape and influence high?quality therapeutic support for pupils
Key Responsibilities
Work closely with the SENCo and wider therapy team to deliver high?quality therapy services across multiple SEN school sites.
Collaborate with families and external agencies to ensure therapy is tailored to each childs needs.
Carry out autonomous assessments for children with a wide range of additional needs, including autism, sensory processing differences, and attachment?related difficulties.
Analyse and interpret assessment outcomes to recommend and deliver appropriate interventions.
Support the development and review of individual care and development plans.
Formulate, implement, and evaluate personalised occupational therapy treatment plans using advanced clinical reasoning.
Maintain accurate and professional written records in line with regulatory standards.
Demonstrate strong competency in assessing children with complex needs, often where evidence may be conflicting or unclear.
Experience & Qualifications
Essential:
Diploma/Degree in Occupational Therapy
HCPC registration
Commitment to ongoing professional development
Previous experience working as an Occupational Therapist
Experience working within multi?disciplinary and multi?agency environments
Strong understanding of evidence?based approaches for supporting children with a range of needs
Knowledge of autism, sensory needs, and attachment?related difficulties
Desirable:
Experience within CAMHS or ASC services
Experience working in paediatric or special school settings
