PE Global is recruiting a Machining Technician for our manufacturing client in Peterborough. The role is an initial 12-month contract & the rate for this role is £18.00 PAYE or £24.43 Umbrella p/h.
Responsibilities:
* Carry out a variety of machining tasks to support current and new Research & Development programmes
* Operate conventional manual machinery including lathes, milling machines, grinding and boring machines
* Read and interpret engineering drawings and follow engineers’ instructions accurately
* Produce precision components to tight deadlines and high quality standards
* Use measuring equipment such as vernier callipers, depth gauges and thread gauges
* Adhere to all company processes including Safety, Standard Work and Quality
* Maintain good housekeeping standards within the work area
* Work collaboratively with machining engineers, coordinators and wider team members
Requirements:
* Proven machining background with strong fundamentals in machining processes
* Minimum 1 year post-qualification experience
* Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
* Experience using conventional machining equipment
* Competent using PC systems, including Microsoft Office 365 and basic Excel
* Self-motivated with strong teamwork and problem-solving skills
* Good written and verbal communication skills
* Adaptable and positive attitude to change
Desirable Experience:
* Apprenticeship / City & Guilds / NVQ Level 3 in Machining or equivalent
* Experience using Mazak 5-axis (Mazatrol Smooth X control) and/or FeatureCAM
* Experience using Haas ST-10 with Fanuc control
* Background in military or aerospace environments (highly transferable skills)
Working Hours:
* 37 hours per week
* 07:00 – 15:30 Monday to Thursday
* 07:00 – 12:00 Friday
* Flexibility available within the team (to be agreed with the Hiring Manager)
Additional Information:
* All PPE is provided
* Role is 5 days per week onsite
* One-stage interview process (face-to-face preferred; Teams possible if relocating)
