Job Title: Head of R&C – Naval Power
Locations: Hybrid, and must be willing to travel regularly
Raytheon UK are looking for a Business Development Executive to support our business growth into the military Naval Environment. The ideal candidate will have experience within the Royal Navy preferably within capability planning or acquisition, or working with the Navy on programmes/projects.
The candidate will have a good understanding of Naval concepts and doctrine, how defence works and a good grasp of the complex weapons and sensors requirements of the Royal Navy
The BDE Naval Power will engage with Navy HQ and the associated procurement areas to build an understanding of upcoming programmes, and position Raytheon for large strategic procurements.
Relationship management within the Navy Command Structure and an ability to create new relationships are as important as subject area knowledge. There maybe some need to extend this relationship building with other services.
This is a high profile role within Raytheon, and the BDE Naval Power will be charged with developing the Naval market to enable Raytheon to achieve its ambitious growth plans.
Main Duties:
1. Developing a strategy/plan for Raytheon’s expansion into the UK Navy Environment
2. Prepare and initiate action plans for the effective search for new opportunities with the objective of expanding the customer base
3. Develop strong relationships with existing customers and develop new routes-to-market, when required
4. Build, manage and qualify an opportunity pipeline through the company opportunity management system
5. Maintain close and regular contact with all potential customers to ensure early knowledge of pending opportunities
6. Undertake presentations and provide demonstrations with customers
7. Preparation of forecasts, departmental reports and presentations for RUK Management
8. Work with and on occasion lead bid teams to prepare proposals and quotations, including the timely follow-up with customers
9. Contribute and provide market intelligence to the Raytheon UK Competitive Intelligence Analyst
Required Skills and Experience:
10. Excellent relationships with key influencers and decision makers in the UK Naval environment
11. 10+ years of experience of government and military
12. A strong Defence background with intimate understanding of customer procurement processes
13. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to build strong customer rapport at all levels
14. Team working – able to work effectively as part of a team whilst encouraging and fostering teamwork; open to others ideas and input
15. Influencing – high level of interpersonal skills, demonstrable ability to present ideas and take people with them
16. Strong understanding of customer and market dynamics and requirements
17. Willingness to undertake regular (~10 trips) International Travel
18. SC Cleared or ability to become cleared.
Desired Skills & Experience:
19. A strong Defence background with knowledge of UK complex weapons market and key players
20. Member of a relevant Sales, Engineering or Programme Management Professional Institution
