We have an exciting opportunity for a Occupational Therapist at HMP Winchester to join our team. HMP Winchester is a Category B Local remand prison located in Central Winchester accommodating approximately 670 male prisoners.
Although the site is close to Winchester city centre there is onsite (free!) parking for all staff and it is a short walk from Winchester train station.
Due to HMP Winchester holding remand prisoners and to support the daily regime, we do require staff to work on rota basis and you can be asked to work nights, bank holidays and weekends although if youre looking for flexibility we can discuss this at interview
This position is full time hours a week and youll receive an annual salary up to 44,992 per annum FTE - depending on experience.

Main duties of the job
As the Occupational Therapist for HMP Winchester you will be
1. Assessing, planning, and delivering care and therapeutic interventions to patients with complex and/or unstable health care needs.
2. A key aspect of the role will be reviewing care and therapy interventions. Within the role, you can expect to be involved in all aspects of the care planning approach for clients within your caseload.
3. Multi-partner working is essential so the right level of communication and team working skills are essential. Excellent record keeping skills are a must to ensure that you maintain accurate records and provide the kind of helpful, empathetic support that will make every patient feel at ease.

Required diploma/degree in Occupational Therapy and registered with the HCPC, you will need to be empathetic and willing to learn and develop your skills. Experienced in working as part of a multi-disciplinary team, you'll be able to manage your caseload and apply an application of OT theory in the treatment of patients in an inpatient setting. An understanding of common medical, surgical and neurological conditions is also required.
Although not essential ideal applicants would have experience in a hospital, community or prison environment.
