Job Summary

Our Healthcare Support Workers are at the heart of our multidisciplinary teams, assisting our registered nurses in planning, delivering and evaluating care. This role requires you to:

The position is varied and busy, with shifts including long days, nights, weekends and bank holidays. Work is available in the Unscheduled Care Department (medical wards, ED and AAU).
Main Duties
It is essential that, within your application, you demonstrate an understanding of the role and responsibilities, show how you develop and maintain positive working relationships, and evidence how you would demonstrate our Trust values.
Applicants must be at least 18 years old and willing to work a minimum of 23 hours per week, committed to the standard shift pattern.

Job Responsibilities

We will be holding an in‑person HCSW Interview Day on Tuesday 9th December 2025 at Basingstoke and North Hampshire Hospital. The event will include a presentation, talks from our clinical staff and a face‑to‑face interview. No further interview dates are available and you must be able to attend in person.
Important: This vacancy is for external candidates or HHFT employees who are not Healthcare Support Workers. If you already work at HHFT as a HCSW (permanent or bank contracts) and wish to change, you should not apply for this vacancy; please contact your line manager instead.

Person Specification
Essential
* Completed Care Certificate or ability to complete within 6 months of appointment.
* Training and qualifications through any combination of alternative study and/or employment experience.
* Experience in a public facing/customer care role or environment.
* Good written and verbal communication in English.
Desirable
* Level 2 and/or 3 qualification in Health and Social Care / Clinical Care or working towards.
* Confirmation of Secondary Education – GCSE grades (minimum requirements: 1‑3 or D‑G) or Functional Skills at Level 1 or equivalent.
* GCSE Standard Pass Grades (4 and above or A‑C).
* Previous experience in a Health/Health and Social Care role.
* Understanding of NHS / Social care systems.
