As a Costume Production Manager, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth production of both new and revived costumes for our diverse range of projects.
Job Overview
As the Costume Production Manager, you will oversee the entire costume production process, from order intake to delivery. You will be responsible for managing the Costume and Tailoring Workshop, coordinating with designers and makers, and ensuring that production schedules and budgets are adhered to. Your role will ensure that our costumes are crafted to the highest artistic and safety standards, while also fostering an efficient and motivated team environment.
Key Responsibilities:
* Manage Production Workflow: Oversee the full lifecycle of costume production, ensuring efficiency from order intake to delivery.
* Team Management: Supervise and manage staff within the Costume and Tailoring Workshop, ensuring team members are supported and productivity targets are met.
* Cross-Department Coordination: Liaise and communicate effectively with the Costume Department, Designers, Makers, Pattern Cutters, Production Managers, and Logistics teams to ensure smooth workflow and timely delivery.
* Budget Management: Plan and manage allocated budgets, ensuring cost-effective use of resources while maintaining high production standards.
* Workroom Oversight: Monitor the output of workrooms, set realistic targets, and ensure deadlines are met without compromising quality.
* Costume Quality Control: Maintain in-depth knowledge of current materials, techniques, and finishes to execute designers' visions accurately.
* Health & Safety: Ensure all activities comply with Health & Safety legislation and company guidelines. Conduct risk assessments and collaborate with the H&S department.
* Team Development: Support staff by conducting training, inductions, and performance evaluations to maintain high standards in work quality and safety.
* Problem Solving: Troubleshoot and resolve any issues that arise during production, ensuring solutions align with both artistic and budgetary requirements.
Key Skills & Experience Required:
* Costume Expertise: In-depth knowledge of costume fitting, alteration techniques, and costume-making processes, including an awareness of the latest materials and techniques.
* Design Interpretation: Ability to accurately interpret design concepts from drawings, sketches, and plans, and translate them into high-quality costumes.
* Leadership & Management: Proven experience in leading and motivating a team, with strong relationship management and communication skills.
* Budget Management: Skilled in managing budgets and maximising resources, with an eye for cost-saving opportunities.
* Problem Solving & Adaptability: Ability to work under pressure and effectively solve problems in a fast-paced, creative environment.
* Time Management: Able to manage tight deadlines and prioritise tasks to meet production schedules.
* Health & Safety Awareness: Familiar with Health & Safety legislation relevant to costume production, and able to implement best practices effectively.

Pay: £32,000.00-£45,000.00 per year
