About this opportunity
Established in 1912–1913 and designed by renowned course architect Harry Colt, this well-established 18-hole parkland course offers a par of 71 across approximately 6,200 yards. Featuring two loops of nine holes, the course is known for its challenging par 4s, particularly on the 8th and 18th, with tree-lined fairways, subtle elevation changes, and strategically placed bunkers that reward accuracy and strong course management skills.
As an apprentice, you’ll work at our company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside our experienced staff.
What you’ll do at work
Daily course maintenance & setup
Using & maintaining pedestrian and ride-on course maintenance machinery
Mowing
Changing holes
Moving tee markers
Construction & drainage work on the golf course
Tree & woodland maintenance
Our course manager has trained a number of apprentices over the years, some of whom are now in senior and managerial positions.

Candidates must be able to work well as part of a team but also show initiative when working alone.
They must have integrity and honesty.
Be willing to work outside in all weather conditions and a good level of basic fitness.
Be willing to learn new skills.
A basic understanding of the game of golf is preferred but not essential.
Desired qualifications
GCSE English (Grade grade C or 4 and above) essential
GCSE Maths (Grade grade C or 4 and above) essential
Driving license would be advantageous but not essential, being able to commute to and from work is essential.
Future Progression
Possibility of a employment if a suitable role is available.
Training
Full training to be provided by the employer and KEITS at the place of employment.
The applicant will be working towards and gain a Level 2 Sports Turf or Golf Green Keeping Business Administration Apprenticeship
The learner will be allocated an industry specific training consultant who will provide both remote and on site visits throughout the apprenticeship.
The apprentice will work towards an End Point Assessment (EPA) at the end of their apprenticeship.
