The post holder will work as part of the community learning disability multidisciplinary team covering a defined locality and will carry professional and practice management responsibility including the continuous professional development needs of community learning disability nursing staff.The post holder will also provide clinical leadership supporting the training and education of carers working with adults and children with learning disability who have complex nursing needs in their home, day services residential settings and supported living servicesThe post holder will develop, plan and deliver education and competency based programmes in response to supporting the identified needs of clients with complex health needs.The post holder will provide expert advice for other healthcare professionals including, nurses, social workers and other providers to ensure they are able to care for and support clients.
Responsibilities
* Provide professional supervision & appraisal for the Band 5 and Band 6 Learning Disability Nurses, Health Facilitators and Specialist Nurses and support staff when required.
* Provides professional advice and support and practical assistance to nursing staff as required and for recently qualified, new or inexperienced staff.
* Act as a Nurse Clinician to a small defined caseload.
Skills and Qualifications
* Registered on live NMC Register Part 1 Learning Disability And Minimum of 5 years’post basic qualification.
* Hold a current full driving licence which is valid for use in the UK and have access to a car on appointment.
* This criteria will be waived in the case of applicants whose disability prohibits driving but who have access to a form of transport approved by the Trust which will permit them to carry out the duties of the post.
