Job overview

This is a great opportunity for an experienced Renal Nurse to join our Outpatient Renal team in a Full-time position.
The Renal clinic at Northwick Park consists of Seven General Nephrology clinics and one Advanced Kidney Care Clinic.


Main duties of the job

1. To provide sound clinical leadership and develop support mechanisms for sharing good practice within the clinical setting and Trust wide.
2. Maintain and promote effective communication both verbally and in writing with all members of the multi-disciplinary team and other Wards or Departments, including formal and informal presentation of information relating to your service.
3. To assess, plan, implement and evaluate programmes of care, providing specialist advice and actively seeking evidence based practice which will improve the quality of care and meet the needs of a group of patients.
4. To be actively involved in the development of Trust policies and procedures, providing specialist input, leading their implementation and reinforce their use.
5. To take the lead in ensuring compliance to Trust policies and procedures amongst the multi-disciplinary team.
6. To manage the efficient and effective use of supplies, provisions and equipment within delegated budgets.
7. Be actively involved in staff education and development, including utilising appropriate learning opportunities and to act as a mentor and resource for student nurses, adaptation and unqualified members of the nursing team.

Education/ Qualifications

Essential criteria

8. * Registered Nurse.
9. Working toward a relevant degree (level 6)
10. Teaching and Assessing qualification or equivalent teaching experience.
11. Post registration experience in a relevant area with experience of change management.

Desirable criteria

12. Has attained a relevant Degree (level 6).
13. Leadership qualification

Experience

Essential criteria

14. * Significant post registration experience in specialty area and experience in either junior specialty role or team leader/ward management role
15. Experience with managing patient relevant to specialist area
16. Ability to work within a team and independently
17. Proven teaching and assessing skills.

Skills/Knowledge/ Abilities

Essential criteria

18. * Demonstrate commitment through involvement in Trust wide initiatives/ committees.
19. Able to demonstrate highly developed specialist knowledge of own patient group
20. Knowledge of research and audit including implementation of findings and review of outcomes
21. Evidence of continuing professional development
22. Ability to practice within the scope of the NMC Code of Professional Conduct.
23. Good IT skills, Understanding of office Works suite including PowerPoint
24. Ability to demonstrate application of the NHS Plan to own sphere of practice.
25. Able to manage difficult situations effectively.
26. Able to prioritise and meet deadlines.
27. Demonstrate the ability to compile complex written information using IT skills (Excel) * Influencing skills. Self directed able to generate new idea’s to develop and improve services. Committed to service.
