Your Role As Senior Maintenance Manager, you'll lead a team of 7 supervisors and maintenance teams (mechanical fitters and electricians) supporting crawler cranes, tower cranes, and hoists. You'll be the go-to escalation point for breakdowns and operational challenges, ensuring equipment is maintained to the highest standards and works smoothly on customer sites. This is a hands-on, operational role requiring someone who can plan, prioritise, communicate clearly with stakeholders, and thrive under pressure. You'll be proactive, solution-oriented, and ready to get stuck in, supporting teams to deliver safe, efficient, and cost-effective maintenance services. What You'll Do Lead and manage maintenance teams, ensuring all plant and equipment meet quality and safety standards Plan maintenance works with safety as the top priority Keep accurate maintenance records and paperwork up to date Support and promote Health & Safety across the workforce Collaborate closely with Operations to resolve scheduling conflicts and optimize workflows Oversee maintenance plans, budget adherence, and seek efficiency improvements to boost margins Assist in delivering maintenance support for key projects such as Hinkley Point Review and improve maintenance procedures alongside the Maintenance Leader Be available for out-of-hours emergency calls (rare but essential) and flexible to travel across the UK at short notice What We're Looking For Essential: Proven experience managing large maintenance teams in plant and machinery, including tower cranes, crawler cranes, and hoists Strong operational knowledge of plant equipment and the construction industry Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills Confident decision-maker who handles pressure calmly and effectively Organised, self-motivated, and able to work independently Good IT skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, Email) Numerate with attention to detail Full clean driving licence Willingness to be flexible with working hours and travel What's In It For You Competitive salary car/travel allowance Private Medical Insurance Enhanced pension & parental leave Life, dental, and critical illness cover income protection 33 days holiday (including bank holidays) Professional development opportunities Apply now or contact Gabbie Bristow (Resourcing Advisor) at gbristow@laingorourke.com for an informal chat.
