About the role

In your role as Alternative Operations Analyst, you will make a meaningful and valued contribution from the outset.

This role will provide a great opportunity to oversee the end-to-end of USS’s £25bn+ Alternative Asset operational processes.

The team’s objective is to provide support for both existing assets and new deals, originated by the Private Markets Group (“PMG”).

You will be working closely with other operational support teams to onboard complex investment deals/structures and facilitate their integration in a controlled manner into USS’s operational environment.

The role will provide exposure to our end-to-end processes which support both existing and new alternative assets, working closely with the front office team and other support areas.

What you will be doing

As a trusted part of the Operation,s you will:

* Collaborate with Private Market deal teams and third-party providers to implement and manage new business operating models and service provisions.
* Manage asset setup, cash-flow coordination, and funding transactions for existing business mandates.
* Oversee daily cash and stock reconciliations, accounting/IBOR processes, and resolve related issues promptly.
* Prepare monthly cash distributions and assist with DC trading processes for portfolios.
* Report risk events within 24 hours and support the preparation of operating reports and committee presentations.
* Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders and third-party service providers like Aztec and JPM.
* Continuously improve skills through training and actively seek development opportunities.

About you

To be successful in the role, you will have:

* Relevant industry experience.
* Part-qualified in accounting is a plus, but not required.
* Experience in deal implementation, focusing on operational and finance aspects.
* Background in alternatives management or administration preferred.
* Knowledge of multiple private market asset classes (property, private equity, private credit).
* Proven track record of initiative and project delivery.
* Strong problem-solving skills and flexible, adaptable approach.
