I'm partnering with a successful and friendly SME based in Runcorn who are looking for an Assistant Accountant to join them on a Temporary‑to‑Permanent basis. This is the perfect opportunity for someone who likes to roll their sleeves up, take ownership, and make a real impact as the business continues to grow.
Description
The Assistant Accountant responsibilities include:
Prepayments, accruals and journals
Fixed asset management
Cost of sales analysis
Preparing monthly management accounts for review
Overseeing purchase ledger and sales ledger
Supporting HR admin and payroll preparation
Assisting with H&S processes
Helping to streamline and improve the 10‑day month‑end close
Profile
The succesful Assistant Accounant is:
Immediately available or short notice to start
Experience preparing accounts up to trial balance / management accounts stage
Confident with accruals, prepayments, journals & fixed assets
Comfortable in a small, close‑knit SME environment
Someone happy to get involved beyond core finance when needed
Sage 200 experience is ideal
Able to work onsite and build trust as you settle in
