Teaching Assistant with additional responsibility to work alongside the Health Care Assistant

Job Information:
This is an enhanced Teaching Assistant role. The enhancement recognises the responsibility of assisting the current Health Care Assistant (HCA) outside of normal classroom duties of a Teaching Assistant. Specifically you will ensure appropriate student medications are drawn up within the scope of legal requirements on a frequent basis. Ordinarily the day-to-day requirement is drawing medication with the HCA at 8.30am to 9.00am, as well as ‘running’ the medical room for one morning a week, and potentially at times when the HCA is absent.
You will be given appropriate training including Handling of Medication which would provide you with knowledge in order to assist in maintaining protocols and administrating medication which may include prescribed emergency medication and booking in / safe storage. You will need to keep accurate records of work carried out in this role.
Alongside the enhanced duties you will be assigned to a class team as a Teaching Assistant. You will be an integral member of a class team and will work under the direction of a Teacher and Senior Teaching Assistant, supporting groups of children across a class and department. Qualifications required: Essential: Maths and English qualification to NVQ level 2, Desirable: NVQ level 3 (or working towards this level) or equivalent higher qualification
Contract type:Term time only (+ 5 training days)
Contract term:Full time, Permanent
Working hours: 32.50 hours per week, working 8.30am to 3.45pm Monday-Friday
Starting Salary:Grade 6, point 10, actual salary starts at £19,543 (F.T.E. £25,995)
