The enhancement recognises the responsibility of assisting the current Health Care Assistant (HCA) outside of normal classroom duties of a Teaching Assistant. Specifically you will ensure appropriate student medications are drawn up within the scope of legal requirements on a frequent basis. You will be given appropriate training including Handling of Medication which would provide you with knowledge in order to assist in maintaining protocols and administrating medication which may include prescribed emergency medication and booking in / safe storage. You will need to keep accurate records of work carried out in this role.

Alongside the enhanced duties you will be assigned to a class team as a Teaching Assistant. You will be an integral member of a class team and will work under the direction of a Teacher and Senior Teaching Assistant, supporting groups of children across a class and department. The school provides a comprehensive professional development programme. Please refer to the attached Job Description for further details. If you require more information about this role, what the training involves or require further clarity of what you would be expected to deliver, please speak to Alex Higginson (Assistant Headteacher) or Laura Peach (HR Manager).
