Job Title: Pathology Support Supervisor
The Pathology Support Supervisor will oversee the daily activities of the team working in Pathology Support, managing over 20 staff, mainly part-time, across 24 hours.
The role involves supervising staff during routine hours in Specimen Reception and Laboratory Office areas, with potential requirements to work at various Trust sites providing Pathology services.
Main responsibilities include receiving blood test requests, ensuring accurate data entry into Pathology systems, training staff, and maintaining service quality. The role requires flexibility to work short-notice sessions to cover unplanned leave, as it is an essential service operating every day of the year.
Key Duties:
* Assist in developing and following Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
* Supervise specimen reception staff, handle queries, and ensure workflow efficiency.
* Provide training and maintain competency records for staff.
* Report errors and follow up on corrective actions.
* Support TATs to ensure timely service delivery.
* Communicate effectively with departments, wards, GPs, and clinics regarding pre-analytical work.
Additional Responsibilities:
* Maintain professional image and promote teamwork.
* Participate in team meetings and deputize for the lead supervisor as needed.
* Respond to enquiries and manage administrative tasks like rotas, stock control, and invoice verification.
* Ensure compliance with departmental policies and participate in audits and research activities.
Qualifications and Skills:
* Experience in pathology support or laboratory supervision preferred.
* Excellent communication, organizational, and training skills.
* Ability to work unsupervised and manage a team effectively.
