Overview
We have an exciting employment opportunity to recruit a permanent Housing Benefit and Council Tax Reduction Scheme Officer with a minimum of 2 years’ recent experience.
Responsibilities
You will be responsible for processing complex assessments, such as Universal Credit, Self-Employed, Students, and Persons from Abroad. You will help those on low income to sustain their tenancies ensuring their benefits are fully maximised. You will be part of a committed enthusiastic team, focused on high performance and working to challenging financial and operational targets. You will work using your own initiative and prioritise conflicting deadlines, manage your time efficiently with good communication skills. You will need a good standard of numeracy and literacy, effectively responding to enquiries received by letter, telephone and e-mail. You will need to understand and be responsive to customer’s needs, always presenting a positive and professional image to the customer, whilst ensuring effective engagement with vulnerable and challenging customers. The contracted hours are 36 hours a week and we offer a flexible working hours policy which includes hybrid working.
Requirements
* Minimum of 2 years’ recent experience in Housing Benefit and Council Tax Reduction Scheme work.
* In-depth knowledge of processing complex assessments (e.g., Universal Credit, Self-Employed, Students, Persons from Abroad).
* Ability to help low-income customers sustain their tenancies and maximise benefits.
* Good numeracy and literacy skills; able to respond to enquiries by letter, telephone and e-mail.
* Ability to understand and be responsive to customer needs and to engage effectively with vulnerable and challenging customers.
* Good time management and ability to prioritise conflicting deadlines; strong communication skills.
* Comfort with hybrid/ flexible working arrangements.
