Overview
Lead Officer for Adult Support & Protection and Mental Health. 37 hours per week, permanent position. Salary £56,374 to £61,371 per annum (inclusive of £2,859 Distant Islands Allowance per annum).
Based in Stornoway, you will set a high standard of adult protection by implementing and maintaining a system for monitoring the performance of adult support and protection services, to ensure the Comhairle's statutory duties and functions are effectively discharged. You will provide professional social work operational leadership under the Chief Social Work Officer and support the Adult Protection Committee.
Responsibilities
* Lead responsibility for duties delegated by the Chief Social Work Officer related to the Adult Support and Protection (Scotland) Act 2007, the Adults with Incapacity (Scotland) Act 2007, the Mental Health (Care and Treatment) (Scotland) Act 2003, and any subsequent relevant legislation.
* Support the Adult Protection Committee, ensuring core responsibilities and key objectives are discharged under the direction of the Chair; bridge strategic oversight and front-line operations.
* With the Service Manager and Team Leader, manage statutory duties under Adult Support and Protection, Adults with Incapacity, and Mental Health legislation. Lead Officer, Western Isles, for Mental Health services within the Social and Community Services Department.
* Contribute to knowledge of community care policy development and legislation; lead and manage multi-agency case conferences; manage staff.
* Interview and select staff as required and ensure effective multi-agency partnership working.
* Ensure compliance with PVG scheme requirements for regulated work with adults and children.

Qualifications and Experience
* CQSW / Dip SW / Social Work (or equivalent).
* Post-qualifying award in Mental Health (required).
* Knowledge of community care policy development and legislation; relevant mental health policies and guidance.
* Experience in adult care service delivery, adult protection/risk management, and multi-agency partnership working.
* Experience chairing multi-agency case conferences and managing staff.
* Full UK Driving Licence.
* Willingness to be a member of the PVG Scheme for regulated work with adults and children.
Additional Information
* Appointment to the post will be on the first point of the grade with annual incremental progression.
* Salary includes Distant Islands Allowance.
