This is an exciting opportunity to join a well-established business. They are looking for a Management Accountant on a permanent basis and are open to both full and part-time for this role (28 – 37 hours per week, 3 days minimum). This is a pivotal role within the finance team, leading financial planning, monitoring, and advising on budget management and best practices across all financial activities.
As Management Accountant, you will be responsible for:
* Financial transactions and compliance – ensuring all financial transactions are processed accurately and on time, including journals, VAT returns, and supplier payments, while maintaining compliance with audit requirements.
* Banking and reconciliation oversight – overseeing reconciliations of petty cash, charge cards, and bank accounts, working closely with the Finance Officer to ensure financial accuracy.
* Budget monitoring and reporting – leading financial oversight, including budget monitoring, monthly management accounts, forecasting, and variance reporting.
* Debt and income management – proactively reviewing debtor balances and implementing effective debt collection processes.
* Process improvement and audit support – assisting in developing efficient financial processes and supporting internal and external audits and year-end preparations.
* Financial advice and stakeholder support – providing expert financial guidance to budget holders and escalating issues to senior finance leaders as required.
* Training and development – delivering financial training across teams.
* Leadership and team management – line managing finance team members, conducting appraisals, setting objectives, and supporting staff induction and ongoing development.
* Professional growth and accountability – taking ownership of personal development, maintaining sector knowledge, and engaging in performance management and workload planning.
Skills and experience
The successful candidate will need to hold a relevant accountancy qualification (AAT, ACCA, ACA, CIMA, or equivalent) and have experience in a similar role. You should have experience in financial management, reporting, and budgeting, and be able to work to monthly deadlines and report on a timely basis.
