* Degree in Civil Engineering, or relevant degree with compensatory knowledge, abilities and skills
* Full Driving Licence
* Proven understanding of highway engineering and design standards, and the ability to translate and communicate these to stakeholders
* Substantial understanding of DRMB, MCHW and TSM/TSRGD.
* Be confident to work independently, with minimal to no supervision within the team.
* Experience in checking and monitoring the work of others as well as providing guidance to junior members of staff.
* Specialist in the design process of at least one of these disciplines: pavement, VRS or traffic signs/markings.
* Proficient in producing: Specification of Works, Pre-Construction Packs, H&S files, Registers, Risk assessments and Bill of Quantities.
* Strong understanding of CDM 2015 and how to identify, eliminate or mitigate health and safety risks and hazards.
* Able to attend an office at least 3 times a week.
* Have very high standards for quality of work and drawing presentation.
* Able to lead meeting with the client, contractors and key stakeholders.
* Project Management experience and ability to report back to the client.
* Experienced in AutoCAD Civils 3D and 2D.
* Able to produce Traffic Signs designs and road markings.
* An understanding of the DMRB departure process.
* Knowledge of the NEC4 contracts and Compensation Events and Early Warnings.
* Previous National Highways experience.
