Job Title: Production EngineerLocation: Enfield, North LondonSalary: Up to £42,000Shift Type: Days (Monday–Friday)Job OverviewA major player in defence manufacturing is seeking a Production Engineer to support and optimise manufacturing processes within an electromechanical production environment. This role is key to ensuring efficient production flow, maintaining quality standards, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives.The Production Engineer will act as the interface between Design and Manufacturing, with a strong focus on New Product Introduction (NPI), process documentation, tooling support, and day-to-day production assistance.Key ResponsibilitiesDevelop, implement, and optimise production processes, including work instructions, operating procedures, and test specificationsSupport New Product Introduction activities, including pilot builds, process validation, and transition into full productionContribute to Design for Manufacture (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) reviewsSpecify, maintain, and support production equipment, jigs, and fixturesDiagnose equipment and process issues, coordinating corrective actions as requiredWork closely with Quality to define inspection methods and resolve non-conformancesLead and support continuous improvement activities using Lean and CI methodologiesAnalyse production data to identify bottlenecks, inefficiencies, and cost-saving opportunitiesProvide technical support and training to production operators and techniciansMaintain accurate and controlled production documentationCandidate RequirementsMinimum 2 years’ experience in Production Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or Process EngineeringExperience working with electromechanical assemblies (e.g. motors, sensors, PCBs, wiring, actuators)Background in high-mix or low-volume manufacturing environments is advantageousStrong understanding of mechanical and electrical manufacturing processesKnowledge of Lean manufacturing and quality tools (FMEA, SPC, 8D, Ishikawa)Experience with ERP/MRP systems (e.g. SAP, Oracle, or similar)Confident with KPI analysis and technical report writingInterested in finding out more?
