Position Summary

Welder has the function to lead by example, reporting directly to the Shift Manager. To meet the team objectives and business needs. Welder to highlighting any areas of concern or opportunities to the Manufacturing Weld Specialist / Shift Manager. Welder to ensure that all company standards, policies and procedures are always adhered to and that any queries in this regard are reported to the Manufacturing Weld Specialist / Shift Manager so they can be dealt with effectively.


Duties And Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL

1. Welder will ensure that they adhere to all Oceaneering’s safety policies & procedures, inclusive of Oceaneering’s Lifesaving rules. Safe Start behaviors will be demonstrated by the Welder and encouraged to the whole team daily. Welder will attend Toolbox Talksdaily and ensure any risk assessment is read, understood & signed before commencing any work activity.
2. Welder must take ownership of their wellbeing, behaviors and performance and will ensure any change to the process has been covered through the TBT, JSEA, Training & competency programs.
3. Welder will assist in any incident investigation on the process by ensuring that the area is secure to prevent a repeat injury. HS0020 Incident Management Level 3 procedure will be followed effectively and expediently and will include detailed information using the who, where, why, what, when method.
4. Welder will demonstrate awareness and take accountability of daily performance targets and will be accountable for achieving them and highlighting any issues that may prevent to the Shift Manager.
5. Welder will take full ownership of the dedicated of the delegated task to ensure production targets are achieved.
6. Welder will take ownership in highlighting to other functions (maintenance, QA, Process Engineering) any issues that will cost downtime.
7. Welder will encourage their teams to highlight any improvement areas to improve production schedules.
8. Welder will take accountability to ensure all checks are completed prior to start up using the clean sweep and / or Preprocess Audit technique to assure product quality.
9. Welder will highlight and help drive with the help of Process Engineering & Manufacturing management any improvements to help product quality.
10. Any maintenance issues (break downs, preventive maintenance) will be reported by the Welder directly to maintenance, then inform the Shift Manager who will be accountable to manage thorough and followed up on effectively also.
11. Welder will be accountable to ensure they complete correctly all data within the production package. Welder will also be accountable to ensure any special instructions within the production package have been communicated to them and understood before starting the task.
12. Welder will take accountability to ensure good documentation practice.
13. Welder will take accountability and ensure the Production inspection plan is adhered to and ensure they are aware of any client witness or hold points.
14. Welder will ensure they assists fully with any QA nonconformance investigations to ensure correct problem statements are recorded and such matters dealt with expediently.
15. Positive attitude and constructive approach to work including flexibility to work alternative hours and/or shift rotations as and when reasonably required. where possible. Adequate notice will be provided but dependent upon business needs, customer requirements and any constraints applying
16. Able to effectively follow guidelines set out by Manufacturing management.
17. Able to both works effectively as part of a team and, where required, work using their own initiative.
18. Able to engage effectively with other colleagues and stakeholders including other departments and third parties as/when required to meet job requirements.
19. Able to consistently learn and develop both to meet or exceed the expectations of the current role and embrace future career opportunities within the company when appropriate.
20. Effectively work as part of a team of personnel conducting a process within Production safely, on time and to customer specification with no quality defects. To plan and prepare for the process by taking full process ownership, accountability and continual improvement.
21. Welder will take ownership and accountability of housekeeping throughout all production areas that they work in.
22. Welder will take ownership and ensure they start, work and leave in a safe clean environment.
23. Welder will take ownership and ensure that kits are checked thoroughly, and any missing parts are reported straight away before taking kits out of stores.
24. Welder will ensure any tools, materials or resources required to complete the task are ready at the process before starting. Any tools that are not required that may cause HSE or product risk are removed and reported to the Shift Manager.
25. Welder will take ownership in ensuring that all unused kit is returned to stores as soon as the task is completed.
26. Welder will take part in Engineering Handovers & Design Reviews so any issues can be highlighted early.
27. Welder will ensure any breaches in standards, wellbeing matters and/or training requirements for any task they are given are highlighted to the Shift Manager. When standing in for the Manufacturing Weld Specialist the Welder will ensure any breaches in standards, wellbeing matters and/or training requirements for any of the team are highlighted to Umbilical Production Manager and documented/recorded.
28. Welder is required to be hands on helping in the work processes, this may also be within other departments within Oceaneering.
29. The Welder will be required to help Mentor and Assess current and future personnel.

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. 31. Background in a heavy manufacturing environment
32. Some knowledge of a Manufacturing background required but not essential
33. Welding qualifications such as NVQ / SVQ
34. TIG experience required as a minimum
35. MMA experience is beneficial
36. Preferably experience in Small-Bore Tubing

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and other Characteristics

37. Ensure any safety or special instructions are always adhered too
38. Gives constructive feedback to various departments on any safety or process improvements
39. Must fully cooperate in any safety or process related issues.
40. Must be able to read, understand and follow procedures
41. Must be willing to Mentor and Assess current and future personnel
42. Must have good I.T. skills and be familiar with Microsoft Excel and Word
