Description
Our highly organised and proactive Legal Support Assistants support our Clinical Negligence team. The role is ideal for those with a keen interest in medical law and a strong desire to contribute to justice for individuals affected by clinical errors. You will assist a solicitor in managing a caseload of complex and sensitive claims, ensuring smooth case progression and excellent client care. You will also support the wider team as required.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide an effective, timely and efficient service to the firm’s clients
* Communicate with clients of the department in a professional and courteous manner
* Ensure excellent service standards and maintain high client satisfaction
* Manage medical records, requesting, chasing, downloading and copying documentation
* Manage case files, ensuring all documentation is accurate and up to date, utilising the department key and correspondent pins
* Liaise with clients, medical experts, counsel, and other third parties
* Assist with progressing matters by following the clinical negligence map
* Assist in preparing court bundles and trial documentation
* Maintain case management systems to ensure regulatory compliance
* Assist with boxing, storage, archiving, timesheets, court issuing, post, photocopying, faxing and general administration duties
* Effective diary management for the team, organising meetings and managing expenses
* Assist with processing bills
* Audio typing and preparing documentation
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
* Previous experience as an administrator or paralegal, ideally in clinical negligence or personal injury
* Strong understanding of legal or medical procedures and terminology
* Strong interpersonal skills
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills, confident when dealing with third parties over the phone
* High attention to detail and strong organisational skill
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ideally legal case management software
Desirable
* Experience reviewing medical records and understanding medical terminology
* Familiarity with the Pre-Action Protocol for Clinical Negligence Claims
