Job Overview
* To assist with the M&E Enginering team in carrying out technical and other practical tasks, covering a designated area but required to be peripatetic between several other work locations. To take responsibility and ownership of completion of tasks in order to achieve contract KPIs. To continually provide service excellence in line with MITIE core values.
Main Duties
* Log and record all statutory requirements and maintain up to date records;
* Facilitate first time response and affect a permanent fix wherever possible;
* Carry out safe isolations in accordance with MITIE guidelines;
* Undertaking technical tasks to check plant equipment, maintaining fault logs;
* Undertaking Preventative Planned Maintenance (PPM) tasks, and logging and recording results;
* Test electrical appliances to standard frequencies;
* Replace tubes, lamps and lamp fittings;
* Carry out minor adaptations to the environment, i.e. putting up shelves, notice boards etc
* To carry out regular testing of intruder, fire and panic alarms and faults identified to arrange repairs as appropriate;
* Minor decoration and refurbishment;
* Unblock sinks and drains as required;
* Repair leaks, fit new tap washers, repair ballcocks etc;
* Adjust doors, tighten hinges, change or fit locks and door closers;
* Liaise with other MITIE employees working on site to ensure normal building operations are not disrupted;
* Receive deliveries, signing paperwork and pass to consignee where appropriate;
* Ensure that contractors are properly identified and that appropriate provisions are made for safe working (permit to work);
* Liaise with Emergency Services and Alarm companies for all intruder and fire alarm activations, arranging for emergency boarding up or other repairs as required;
* Involvement in the co-ordination of fire and bomb evacuations according to procedures – in liaison with FM;
* Undertake risk assessments and method statements for all operations falling within the scope of the job;
* Undertake regular building walk inspections (to include all elements of service delivery);
* Test emergency lighting and arrange repairs when necessary;
* Participate with and promote recycling;
* Keep grounds free from litter;
* Any other duties of a similar nature as required by the Facilities Management Team.

* Proven knowledge of building services and plant room operation;
* Experience of PPM and reactive work/tasks;
* Water hygiene awareness and practical application;
* Proven knowledge of Health and Safety;
* Able to understand building plans;
* Able to communicate well at all levels;
* Manual handling training;
* Team player;
* Able to use hand and power tools;
* Clean driving licence;
* Numeracy and literacy skills;
