HOW YOU’LL CONTRIBUTE
This is an exciting opportunity for eligible candidates to study for a fully funded MSc in Nutrition for Sport and Exercise at Cardiff Metropolitan University while gaining experience through the Sport Wales Sport System Institute Services Team. The scheme offers development opportunities via supervised work at Sport Wales, Cardiff Met, and TASS, alongside completing the MSc.
You will support planning, delivery, and evaluation of projects related to performance nutrition, such as female athlete health, energy availability, and cooking skills.
You will build effective relationships to facilitate the delivery of athlete, sports, and system-wide projects.
You will promote the importance of food and nutrition in athletic development, athlete health, wellbeing, and environments.
You will collaborate with colleagues and partners to continually learn and develop nutrition practices.
WHO YOU'LL WORK WITH
Our focus is on addressing recurring system and sport-specific issues, fostering a culture of excellence in fundamentals.
Working with partners, the sport system Institute services team, and wider Sport Wales colleagues, you will support project planning, delivery, and evaluation based on performance nutrition principles.

This partnership with Cardiff Metropolitan University provides an opportunity for individuals experiencing socio-economic disadvantages to gain practical work experience and a MSc in Nutrition for Sport and Exercise. Applicants must meet the socio-economic criteria specified in the application form. A relevant undergraduate degree (e.g., BSc (Hons) in Nutrition, Dietetics, Biomedical Sciences, Sport and Exercise Science, or Biology) and the right to work in the UK are required.

JOB PURPOSE
This scheme offers eligible candidates the chance to study for a fully funded MSc in Nutrition for Sport and Exercise at Cardiff Met University while gaining experience with the Sport Wales Sport System Institute Services Team. Our goal is to create a highly science-informed sporting system in Wales, supporting athletes to thrive and promoting positive high-performance experiences.
Our focus is on addressing system and sport-specific issues, fostering a culture of excellence. Working with partners and colleagues, you will support project planning, delivery, and evaluation rooted in performance nutrition principles. This scheme provides developmental opportunities through supervised work placements at Sport Wales, Cardiff Met, and TASS, alongside completing the MSc.
MAIN DUTIES
* Support planning, delivery, and evaluation of performance nutrition projects, including female athlete health, energy availability, cooking, and planning skills.
* Build and maintain relationships to effectively deliver athlete, sports, and system-wide projects.
* Promote the role of nutrition in athlete development, health, wellbeing, and environments.
* Collaborate with colleagues and partners to continually improve nutrition practices.
* Adhere to UK and NGB professional codes of conduct, including the Sport and Exercise Nutrition Register (SENr) standards and guidelines.
* Maintain detailed documentation of work with athletes, coaches, and sports using Sport Wales’s project portal and PDMS.
* Contribute to delivering an exemplary service respecting statutory duties, including Well-being of Future Generations (Wales), Equality, Information Security, Risk Management, Safeguarding, and Health & Safety.
* Perform any other relevant duties as required.
