Grade: Band 5 Location: Hillingdon Hospital or Mount Vernon Hospital Contract Type: Temporary / Fixed Term / Bank / Agency Hours: 37.5 hours per week (Daytime Only) Role Purpose The Estates Maintenance Multi-Skilled Technician is a key member of the Estates Maintenance Department, providing daytime operational support to ensure continuity of maintenance services. This role has been established to support Working Time Directive compliance, specifically to provide cover where on-call technicians are unavailable to attend their normal working hours due to mandatory rest requirements. The post holder will undertake a wide range of reactive and planned maintenance tasks across mechanical, electrical, and building-fabric disciplines, ensuring systems remain safe, compliant, and operational. Responsibilities Diagnose and repair faults on lighting, power, and distribution systems Replace fittings, switches, and components Undertake safe isolations in line with HTM guidance Carry out general repairs including doors, locks, ceilings, and finishes Undertake minor joinery and fabric works Monitor plant performance and alarms Assist in maintaining environmental control systems Provide clear updates on works and issues Escalate risks or recurring faults appropriately Requirements NVQ Level 3 / City & Guilds in Mechanical, Electrical, or Building Services Engineering Completed apprenticeship or equivalent training Multi-skilled capability across at least two disciplines Experience in reactive and planned maintenance Fault finding across mechanical and/or electrical systems Experience working in a multi-disciplinary environment Use of CAFM or electronic work-order systems Strong fault-finding and problem-solving ability NHS or healthcare environment experience
