About the role:
A specialist provision in Ely supporting secondary‑aged students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs. The school provides a nurturing environment with small class sizes, personalised support, and consistent relational practice. Their curriculum focuses on re‑engagement through core subjects, practical learning, emotional development and preparation for future independence.
This role is to start as soon as possible, full‑time.
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide 1:1 and small‑group support to help students access learning, regulate emotions and re‑engage with the curriculum.
* Use trauma‑informed and relationship‑based strategies, offering predictable routines, calm communication and supportive interventions.
* Model positive behaviour and emotional regulation, guiding students through challenging moments and using restorative approaches when needed.
* Build consistent, trusting relationships with pupils to reduce barriers to learning and support their personal and emotional development.
* Work collaboratively with teachers, pastoral staff and behaviour specialists to deliver tailored support aligned with individual plans.
Pre-requisites:
* Experience supporting young people with SEMH needs or behavioural challenges in schools, PRUs, APs, youth services or similar settings.
* Strong understanding of trauma, attachment, emotional dysregulation and anxiety, with the ability to respond calmly and consistently.
* Confidence working 1:1 or in small groups, adapting support to emotional readiness and individual needs.
* Relevant training or qualifications (e.g. youth work, mentoring, Level 2/3 education support)—not essential but beneficial.
