Overview

We are seeking a dynamic Registered Nurse to join our South Sites Eye Service at Queen Mary’s Hospital, Sidcup, and Orpington Hospital. Our clinics provide a comprehensive service, offering the post holder an excellent opportunity to either develop a new and exciting specialty or advance their existing ophthalmic skills and knowledge. We are looking for someone who embraces change and works collaboratively with the care group to implement innovative ways of working, always putting the patient at the centre of everything they do. In this role, you will care for patients attending eye appointments or procedures, coordinate clinical activities, perform various diagnostic eye tests, assist with ocular procedures, and apply your holistic knowledge to develop pre-assessment and rapid access assessment skills, among other responsibilities. The ideal candidate will demonstrate compassion, deliver high-quality care with excellent communication skills, and collaborate effectively within a multi-professional team to ensure patients receive timely and safe care throughout their journey in the department. If you are motivated to learn a new specialty or have ophthalmology experience and are interested in developing, we encourage you to apply.

At Kings, emphasis is put on the need to ensure that all staff recognise their responsibility to deliver services in a high quality, courteous, patient focused manner maintaining patient confidentiality at all times. They work and behave in line with the Trust values: kindness, respectful and a team to ensure the safety and wellbeing of service users.

Responsibilities

* To deliver high quality, evidence-based and patient focused clinical care.
* To work effectively as part of the immediate team and wider multi-disciplinary team (MDT).
* To uphold a duty of care and clinical governance.
* To maintain own and others' knowledge of clinical excellence.
* To acquire and apply knowledge and skills within the ophthalmology care group.

The Trust provides a full range of local and specialist services across its five sites. The trust-wide strategy of Strong Roots, Global Reach is our vision to be bold, brilliant people, outstanding care, leaders in research, innovation and education, diversity, equality and inclusion at the heart of everything we do. By being person-centred, digitally-enabled, and focused on sustainability, we aim to take Team King’s to another level.

We are at a pivotal point in our history and we require individuals who are ready to join a highly professional team and make a real, lasting difference to our patients and our people. King’s is committed to delivering Sustainable Healthcare for All via our Green Plan. In line with national Greener NHS ambitions, we have set net zero carbon targets of 2040 for our NHS Carbon Footprint and 2045 for our NHS Carbon Footprint Plus. Everyone's contribution is required in order to meet the goals set out in our Green Plan and we encourage all staff to work responsibly, minimising their contributions to the Trust's carbon emissions, waste and pollution wherever possible.
