Junior Sustainability Consultant
Milton Keynes - Hybrid role
Hours: Mon-Fri 8:30-5:00pm
Salary: £35,000 - £50,000 (DOE)
We’re looking for a Junior Sustainability Consultant to support our growing sustainability team across a range of exciting building and development projects.
This role is ideal for someone who already has hands-on experience supporting BREEAM assessments, and is now looking to take the next step in their career — including working towards becoming a BREEAM Approved Professional (AP) with full support and training.
You’ll be involved in day-to-day project delivery, collaborating with architects, developers, and consultants, while building your technical knowledge across a wide range of sustainability disciplines.
What You’ll Be Doing
* Supporting day-to-day sustainability activities across multiple projects
* Assisting with BREEAM New Construction assessments and project documentation
* Coordinating and attending meetings with architects, developers, and wider design teams
* Tracking project progress, identifying risks, and communicating updates to senior consultants
* Working within agreed budgets and timelines under the guidance of a Lead Consultant
* Producing high-quality planning reports and presentations
* Supporting sustainability input for planning submissions
* Gaining exposure to UK legislation, British Standards, and planning policy (national and local)
* Assisting with building performance modelling (energy, overheating, daylight, and compliance)
* Supporting life cycle assessments (LCA) and life cycle costing (LCC), including use of One Click LCA
* Expanding your knowledge into other sustainability frameworks such as LEED, WELL, and Fitwel
* Developing skills in renewable energy and sustainability feasibility studies
* Complying with internal quality assurance procedures and best practice standards
Requirements:
* Experience supporting sustainability or BREEAM assessments (qualification not required)
* Around 2–3 years’ UK experience in a sustainability, environmental, or built-environment role
* A relevant degree in sustainability, environmental science, engineering, or a related discipline
* Strong written and verbal communication skills
* A genuine interest in developing a career in sustainability consulting
