The team is led by a qualified Audiologist, Hearing Aid Dispenser, and Senior Hearing Therapist with over 20 years of experience in the industry, dedicated to supporting individuals with hearing difficulties.
Role Description
This is a part‑time on‑site role for a Hearing Care Assistant at K&M Hearing Solutions in Truro.
Job Purpose
The Hearing Care Assistant (HCA) supports the audiology team by providing excellent patient care, assisting in hearing assessments, maintaining hearing aid equipment, and helping clients understand and manage their hearing solutions. This role plays a vital part in ensuring a smooth patient experience.
Key Responsibilities
* Welcome and assist patients in clinic, ensuring a friendly and professional experience.
* Perform initial screening tests (e.g., otoscopy, hearing checks) under supervision, progressing to independent practice only upon completion of appropriate training if needed.
* Provide ongoing care and support to patients, including basic fine tuning and maintenance of hearing aids.
* Instruct patients on the correct use, care, and maintenance of hearing devices.
* Manage and maintain clinical equipment, ensuring cleanliness and proper functioning.
* Handle patient records accurately in line with data protection and confidentiality policies.
* Provide reception coverage during periods of annual leave and staff absence due to illness.
* Safely and effectively perform ear examinations and wax removal procedures using approved methods. Full training can be provided.
Reception Duties
* Manage day‑to‑day reception duties including appointment scheduling, handling phone calls, and maintaining patient records with accuracy and confidentiality.
* Have a clear understanding of our business and product, to enable you to confidently promote our service and answer patient queries, for which training will be given.
* As a team, ensuring the branch is kept to a high standard and cleaned regularly.
* Efficiently manage clinic inventory, ensuring stock levels are maintained and orderly.
* Collaboratively work with the team to cover absences and support each other in providing uninterrupted service.
Education, Skills & Experience Required
* GCSEs in English and Maths at grade 4 (C) or above, or equivalent qualifications.
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
* Strong organisational abilities and attention to detail.
* Comfortable working with elderly or vulnerable patients.
* Competent in basic IT systems and data entry.
* Previous experience in a healthcare or customer service role (desirable).
* Training or certification as a Hearing Care Assistant (or willingness to complete approved training).
* Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
Additional Information
* Some roles may require travel between clinics or home visits, so a vehicle is necessary.
* Hearing Care Assistant training includes mentorship from our Audiologist, with travel and multiple overnight stays required to attend course modules.
* Must have right to work in the UK.
* Ongoing training and development will be provided.
