THE COMPANY:
Our client is a rapidly growing lending business, seeking a hands-on professional to oversee and strengthen the company’s operational compliance, financial crime, fraud prevention, and governance framework.
THE RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Maintain and develop the company’s operational compliance framework
* Act as MLRO for the business where required
* Oversee AML, KYC, sanctions, and financial crime controls
* Monitor and strengthen fraud prevention processes across the lending journey
* Conduct operational compliance reviews across onboarding, underwriting, collections, broker management, and customer servicing
* Review broker and introducer activity to ensure company standards and processes are being followed
* Support complaint handling, investigations, and escalated customer matters
* Investigate suspicious activity, fraud concerns, documentation irregularities, and operational control failures
* Maintain compliance registers, governance records, and audit documentation
* Support the development and maintenance of operational policies, procedures, and internal controls
* Work closely with operational teams to identify risks, process weaknesses, and improvement opportunities
* Work alongside the technology team to improve fraud monitoring, operational controls, governance processes, and reporting visibility
* Support internal audits, lender due diligence exercises, and investor governance requests
* Ensure customer onboarding documentation and lending records remain accurate and appropriately maintained
* Deliver compliance, fraud prevention, and operational governance guidance across the business
* Monitor operational incidents, breaches, and remediation actions
* Support GDPR and data governance processes alongside the technology function
* Maintain awareness of relevant regulatory, financial crime, and industry developments applicable to the business
* Help strengthen operational accountability, documentation quality, and governance standards as the business scales
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
* Minimum 5 to 7 years’ experience within compliance, fraud prevention, operational risk, AML, lending operations, or financial services
* Previous experience operating as an MLRO or supporting MLRO responsibilities preferred
* Experience within B2B lending, broker-led finance, alternative lending, fintech, or financial services preferred
* Strong understanding of operational controls, governance, AML, KYC, fraud prevention, and financial crime processes
* Strong understanding of broker and introducer-led operating environments preferred
* Strong organisational and documentation skills
