Job Description
For a client based in Newcastle we are looking for a freelance Cost Estimator.
Project phase: FEED
Initial duration: till February 2026 (extendable)
Experience:
* Prior experience projects cost estimation for shipyard/maritime projects, including dredging, reclamation, and marine structures (quay walls, jetties, breakwaters, revetments, etc.), as well as infrastructure, utilities, industrial workshops, and supporting facilities.
* More than 10 years’ experience in projects cost estimation, including budgeting, forecasting, and cost control.
Technical & Professional Capabilities:
1. Degree in Civil Engineering, Marine Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
2. Professional certifications in cost estimation (if available).
3. Competent in preparing detailed Bills of Quantities (BoQs), cost breakdowns, and unit rates.
4. Ability to evaluate direct and indirect costs, equipment/productivity rates, and contingencies.
5. Skilled in quantity take-offs from models and drawings.
6. Proficient in estimation and planning software (e.g., CostX, Excel, Primavera) or similar tools.
7. Ability to use CAD/Navisworks and interpret drawings accurately.
