82292 - Field Engineer

This Field Engineer will report to the Lead Field Engineer and will work within Network Operatioans based in our Colchester/ Chelmsford/ Braintree office. You will be a permanent employee.

You will attract a salary of £54,166 - £80,574 per annum and a bonus of 3%.

If you are successful, you will need to undertake a medical and DBS reference check

Job Purpose:

To work as part of a team to deliver the connections delivery within the Eastern Region geographical area. Also you will support Capital Programme, Maintainence, and Faults within the area. This includes liaison with customers, network operations and control, networks planning and management of field staff and management of contractors.

Principle Accountabilities:

10. Ensure safety management throughout all responsibilities.
11. Responsibility for delivery of all connections, construction and fault works to time, cost and quality.
12. Ensuring staff comply with all procedures and work to a high standard of quality.
13. Daily planning, co-ordination and real-time responsibility for the efficient utilisation of resources.
14. Communicate with HV/LV control – submission of HV/LV switching log, complete HV/LV network operations in accordance to distribution safety rules and procedures etc.
15. Ensure that the Asset Database – Ellipse, is updated with completed work etc. As needed by the system.
16. Support and provide technical support to field staff,
17. Manage and resolve any contract actual issues, with the support of Contract Management.
18. Produce Risk Assessments and Method Statements for the safe delivery of projects work.
19. Complete quality assurance checks of works completed and to rectify any quality issues identified.
20. Communicate with and manage relationships with our customers to meet their expectations wherever possible.
21. To be prepared to assist other sections e.g. organisational changes, system emergencies as determined by your skills, experience.
22. Complete out of hours safety/emergency response (Standby).

From 1 October 2024 all new employees appointed to the Field Engineer roles within Network Operations will include a contractual requirement to undertake standby for a minimum period of 20 years, or up to the age of 55 whichever comes first.

Nature and Scope:

You will play an important role in the team to manage the delivery of all Maintenance, Capital Programme, Connections and Faults work within a geographical area. Together with the scheduling team, Field Staff Supervisor and Field Staff you will deliver an excellent service to the customer, ensuring we meet the requirements of our Guaranteed Service Standards.

Qualifications:

Essential

23. LV Field Engineer / Trainee Engineer = £54,166
24. HV Field Engineer with Full 11 kV SAP plus minimum of ONC = £65,241
25. EHV Field Engineer with full SAP plus HNC = £80,574
26. ONC Electrical Engineering (or equivalent)
27. HNC Electrical Engineering (or equivalent)
28. LV/HV and authorisation on the EPN network
29. EHV (33kV) authorisation on the EPN network
30. IT literate including Ellipse, SAP etc.
31. Current valid driving licence

Desirable

32. NRSWA (City & Guilds) Supervisors certificate
33. IOSH Managing Safely certificate
34. Familiarity with MS Excel spreadsheets

Health & Safety Responsibilities
