Treasury Assistant (Fixed Term - Maternity Cover) Ending 31.12.2026 - Hobbycraft Head Office, BH23 6HG
Salary £24k-£27k dependent on experience - Pension with a 4% contribution, 25 days holiday increasing every year, 25% discount in our stores
This is a full-time role, working 37.5 hours. Our core business hours are Monday to Friday – 10am to 3pm with a flexible approach to start and finish times
Our hybrid working model is 3 days in the office, 2 days working from home
The Role
We are looking to recruit a Treasury Assistant to support our Treasury Accountant within our busy Finance Department at our Head Office in Christchurch, Dorset. This position is a temporary role to cover a period of maternity leave of up to 12 months.
The main purpose of this role is to monitor the flow of cash into and out of Hobbycraft, performing all cash accounting and controlling all cash-related balances.
Key accountabilities
* Recording of all bank and cash balances, which involves posting journals to allocate payments and receipts to the general ledger.
* Maintenance of the cash flow model by categorising daily cash movements to assist in the forecasting of upcoming cash requirements.
* Ensuring adequate bank balances are available across GBP, USD and EURO denominated bank accounts and updating the management team of bank balances on a daily basis.
* Responsibility for various general ledger balances, which involves producing reconciliations as part of the month-end process.
* Utilising automatic reconciliation software to ensure that all store and e-commerce takings are received.
* Assisting with the investigating and reporting of till and banking discrepancies.
* Engaging with our third-party cash provider to investigate and resolve any discrepancies.
* Maintaining the FX hedging model to ensure that foreign currency is available to meet business requirements.
* Other administrative duties, including:
* Processing regular payments using the online banking portal
* Controlling petty cash for the Hub
* New store set-up procedures
* Maintaining standing orders and direct debits
* Maintenance of new and existing vendor records in the accounting system (Navision)
Essential skills required
* Strong Microsoft Excel skills are essential, with experience of working with formulas (e.g., SUMIFS & VLOOKUPs).
* Evidence of excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
* Competent user of other Microsoft Office applications.
* Experience of working in a financial environment.
* The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate good problem-solving skills, be able to work to deadlines and manage time constraints.
