Location: Home based with occasional travel to one of our office bases (Peterborough, Stirling, Plymouth, Bridgend) or within the UK.
Buglife is seeking a dedicated and motivated individual to join our team as a Finance Assistant. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to continue their career in finance while contributing to the conservation of invertebrates and their habitats.
Role & Responsibilities
* Checking, approving and processing trustee, staff and volunteer expenses;
* Preparation of monthly Greening information including collation of YTD information;
* Checking and approving Purchase Orders to the value of £7,500;
* Checking and processing supplier invoices for payment;
* Preparation of weekly batch payments;
* Raise and issue sales invoices;
* Monitor and chase any unpaid sales invoices;
* Reconcile all monthly credit card statements;
* Download and reconcile the various income stream, including supporter direct debits
and Stripe receipts;
* Assist the Finance Officer with the timely reconciliations of Buglife’s bank accounts;
* Monitor and reconcile petty cash (where applicable)
* Ensure all financial transactions are timely and accurately recorded;
* Co-ordinate and maintain paperless processes to support the finance function
ensuring records are readily available for reference/inspection;
* Provide professional and comprehensive support in dealing with finance queries
raised by suppliers and customers;
* Work to strict monthly and annual deadlines
Qualifications/Skills/Knowledge/Experience
* Minimum of 1 years experience in a financial administration role.
* Well organised and self-motivated; able to plan and prioritise work, using own
initiative to meet tight deadlines.
* Keen eye for detail and adherence to adopted policies and procedures.
* Strong organisational and IT skills, including excel, with previous experience of
operating financial management systems e.g. SAGE.
* Team player with a confident persuasive manner and a professional, flexible and
positive approach.
* Able to work effectively as a member of a team or on your own or with limited direct
supervision.
* Pragmatic, innovative, enthusiastic and able to motivate others.
* The post holder must take ownership of and reflect Buglife ethos in their behaviour;
including high professional standards and effectiveness in working with colleagues to
achieve the best possible outcomes to meet our conservation aims.
