The opportunity
Working within the Operations Team and collaborating with all business areas within the Organisation, you will have responsibility for a small team to support in delivering on business targets which are necessary for proactive control of risk and governance. This is an opportunity to help shape, develop and implement processes and systems which will lead to and drive a progressive and proactive culture.Reporting to theHeadof Compliance and working within the Operations Team, you will contribute directly to defining and creating a system with processes which will both support the business and key stakeholders. You will help build capability and understanding within the organisationby creating systems and processes which can be readily cascaded and supported by a small team which you will lead.
Success in this role requires excellent people skills and customer focus, wide knowledge of business risks and knowledge of legislative and reporting requirements.
This knowledge will underpin your ability to effectively engage stakeholders to ensure compliance and ownership and help to drive a positive culture through the organization at every level. You should have great interpersonal skills and be able to support the wider team by utilizing your knowledge and experience to help problem solve and implement solutions at pace. You should be well motivated and have the capability to work using your own initiative to support company objectives and milestones by managing your time and workload accordingly.
What you’ll do
Keyresponsibilities will include:
* Plan, design and implement an overall risk & governance management strategy for the organisation
* Working across each business area to help identify risks and opportunities, score them and presents ready for leadership review
* Develop risk strategies which aim to mitigate / direct business
* Secure, maintain and track all relevant certificates necessary for compliance
* Support in making risk assessments, which involves analysing risks as well as identifying, describing and estimating the risks affecting the business
* Undertake corporate governance involving external risk reporting to stakeholders
* Conduct audits of policy and compliance to standards, including liaison with internal and external auditors
* Escalation/management of conflict of interest
* Develop and define governance structures and forums
* Create annual planning for activity with proposed KPi’s to ensure progress
* Annual budget planning for Risk and Governance team
* Overall responsibility for Business Continuity Planning and reporting on status with action planning
* Overall responsibility for Organisation insurance policies and planning to build and maintain working relationship with company brokers, insurers and other business units within the company to ensure liabilities are managed and exposure is reduced to acceptable levels
* Report risk in an appropriate way for different audiences, to help individuals to understand their accountability for individual risks
* Provide support, education and training to staff to build risk awareness within the organisation.

* Experience leading, managing and maintaining risk and governance frameworks, including working with others to identify and assess risk and design appropriate controls/contingency plans
* Demonstratable experience in implementing robust Risk and Governance policies across a wide business
* Proficiency in Business Continuity management frameworks
* Relevant risk, governance and auditing qualifications / accreditations beneficial
* Attention to detail and strong problem solving skills with the ability to balance trade-offs
* Strong planning, negotiation, and interpersonal skills
* Commitment to continuos improvement
