Offer description

The UK's trusted Ministry of Defence partner, MBDA, is seeking an experienced Electronics Engineer - Radiation Effects to work on analysing and reviewing electronic circuits within the unit analysis team and Design Test solutions within the H/W team.

As an Electronics Engineer - Radiation Effects, the successful candidate will be part of a test team working hands-on in our client's state-of-the-art EMC Facility to simulate environments and a highly skilled project consultancy team that is embedded across all projects within our client to ensure good EMC and RE practice & design.

What we're looking for:

The engineer will work within the Unit Analysis team, focusing on designing and analysing circuits from first principles to comprehend circuit behaviour and identify failure modes. This includes tasks such as calculating the gain of an amplifier, expressing the transfer function of a transistor relative to input/output bias currents, and calculating RC time constants. Experience in analogue circuit design or power supply design is advantageous.

Additionally, within the Hardware team, the engineer is expected to have substantial experience in both analogue and digital circuit design, with a preference for experience in PCB layout and prototyping.

What you'll get to do as an Electronics Engineer - Radiation Effects:

The unit analysis team aims to assess the performance degradation and behaviour of circuits after exposure to specified prompt dose radiation, while the H/W team focuses on designing and building test solutions. Engineers are not expected to have prior knowledge of the effects of radiation on electronic circuits, as this specialized knowledge will be taught by the experienced unit analysis team. However, engineers must possess extensive electronic circuit design knowledge, enabling them to reverse engineer schematics to fully understand design operations and failure modes across various equipment types.

Additionally, the engineer will be responsible for independently reviewing supplier unit analysis and related documents.

"Please Note: This project is a UK eyes only requires all employees to achieve the appropriate clearance relevant to the role".

More about the role:

For more than 70 years, our client has been in a strong partnership with the UK military. They have accomplished numerous milestones in defence engineering and have provided essential defence capabilities to meet the requirements of the armed forces across land, sea, and air.

This role is based at MBDA's, Bristol's state of the art site, which plays a key part in missiles operations. The location offers excellent transportation links, outstanding learning and development opportunities, and social, charitable, and sporting activities.
