Carry out assigned tasks involved with direct patient care whilst maintaining the privacy and dignity of patients. This will be while demonstrating excellent care, compassion and communication, and in support of and supervised by a Registered Nurse/Midwife or Nursing Associate.

* Nutrition & Hydration
* Undertaking and recording of Vital Signs
* Moving & Handling of patients to support independence
* Infection Prevention and Control
* Safeguarding adults and children; assisting patients with personal care and hygiene needs
* Promoting patients' privacy and dignity both in the ward/department and across the Trust
* Assisting patients with their continence needs
* Assisting in meeting patients' nutritional needs; ensuring assistance is provided to patients who require it at meal times and that patients of nutritional risk have a red tray
* Ensuring food and fluid intake and output are accurately documented on appropriate charts when identified in the plan of care
* Supporting skin and pressure area care; under the supervision of registered nurses/nursing associates, helping patients to mobilise and/or change position to promote comfort and protect skin integrity
* Assisting patients with safe mobilisation according to their plan of care and seeking help from other ward/department members when appropriate
* Utilising appropriate moving and handling aids to reduce the risk of injury to patients, others and yourself
* Assisting in supporting therapeutic recreational activities for patients as appropriate
Required Qualifications and Skills
* NHS Care Certificate
* Level 2 Maths and English
* Recognised Level 3 Qualification
* Basic IT Skills in NHS systems
Desirable Qualifications and Experience
* Recognised Level 3 qualification in Health and Social Care field
* Previous experience working as a Healthcare Support Worker within the NHS for a minimum of 6 months
* Experience as a Healthcare Support Worker Buddy
* Experience with the Link Healthcare Support Worker programme
