Lecturer in Computing
1. Hours of work: 37 hours per week
2. Salary: £33,202 to £42,266 per annum

We are seeking a passionate and versatile Lecturer in Computing to join the Computing and Digital Industries department at our Wakefield City Campus. Whether you are an experienced educator or an industry professional looking to transition into teaching, this role offers the opportunity to shape the future of the digital workforce.
As a Lecturer, you will deliver high-quality teaching across a range of Further and Higher Education programs. A key element of this role involves contributing to our T Level provision, specifically within either the Digital Software Development or Digital Support and Security pathways. You will be instrumental in developing curriculum content, ensuring students gain both the theoretical knowledge and the practical, industry-ready skills required for the modern economy.
The Role
4. Deliver engaging lessons across various levels, from foundational computing to specialized higher-level modules.
5. Support the delivery and quality assurance of our T Level pathways, ensuring students meet the rigorous standards of these industry-focused qualifications.
6. Foster a positive learning environment that encourages high retention, achievement, and student progression.
7. Collaborate with a team of specialists to evolve our curriculum in line with emerging technologies.
About You
We are looking for an enthusiastic professional with high standards and a commitment to student success. You should be a collaborative team player with a flexible approach to teaching.
Essential/Desirable Criteria:
8. Education: A degree in Computing, IT, or a related discipline.
9. GCSE’s in Maths and English A*-C/9-4 or equivalent
10. Experience: Ideally, experience teaching 16–18-year-olds in an FE or HE environment (though industry experts are encouraged to apply).
11. Knowledge: A strong understanding of the T Level framework or a willingness to become a subject lead in this area.
12. Technical Versatility: We value skills across Software Development (Python, Java, C#), Web & Mobile (Full-stack), Infrastructure (Cloud, Networking), and Cyber Security.
Not yet qualified but interested in getting into teaching?
If you have not previously worked within the Education sector but have considered a career move, you may be suitable for the Department of Education - Taking Teaching Further initiative, which employs industry specialists direct into Further Education. You will receive an enhanced support package whilst you gain a Teaching Qualification. This opportunity can be discussed at the interview stage.
